I’m not a writer. I’m not a grammar nazi. However, this book drove me nuts. The book felt like a rushed assignment. The sequencing of the flashbacks felt out of order. There was just so much that didn’t make sense. They just accepted her extremely different speech without question? The English Lord who killed Maeve said she had run off, but then comes back and claims he knew she was dead?? It’s almost like the author realized what she had done and tried to fix it by bringing the other English Lord in for a witch trial. The plot holes were one thing, but the lack of editing was a whole other monster in itself. Trail and trial, quiet and quite, I can only hope waist for waste was the author trying to make it sound as they spoke. It was as if sentences were edited but she didn’t take the extra words out. Some sentences I couldn’t make sense of. The biggest issue I had with this book was the editing. The author should have read this transcript front to back and had friends do the same AFTER the editor was finished. This could have possibly eliminated the majority of plot holes and grammar errors. I would like to see the author revise this book.
While the story was a bit predictable, I still found it sweet and charming. I also, however, found the typos annoying and distracting. There were misused of there and their, the instead of he, extra words that made sentences confusing, and correctly spelled, but incorrect words throughout the book. Editor needs to redo this one. Knocking it down one star for the predictability of the story and one star for the terrible editing.
Jumping all over the place, not edited well...to the point of distraction. Appears modeled after Outlander series. Could not finish it.
I give it 5 because the story line is different from most of the Time Travel books I've read. It was a very good story however the author should have someone go back and proofread for errors. I found several, but not enough to put me off the book. I've already bought the second in the series and will let you know what I think when I'm done.
I was up and down with this one it was a bit different from most time-travels so that was great. I liked the story over-all but proof reading was so needed. I know my copy is an arc so I do expect some problems, but my friend had a copy of the book that she said she purchased and her copy really needed editing. I really should give this critter a three star, but instead I am going with a four because I did like the piece.
Today's woman does not stomp her foot like a child. Unbelievable, underdeveloped characters that don't really seem normal. A Scottish Lord does not loose his new bride for a year and learn to live with it.
I just was very disappointed in this book...it seemed like it was written by a high school student. No depth of characters, silly situations, and a sad try of duplicating Outlander...save your money!
So sad, the start of this story, to be alone in this world and having to start over. But the love Collin has for her is so touching, he waited all that time and he cried! Hope you have more of these books, cuz I'm going hunting for them. Thank you💋ðŸ‘
